In 1982, a major snowstorm known as SnowJam 82 hit the city. During this time, McKerrow offered affordable drinks and food to commuters stranded by the storm. This generous gesture was featured in Hudspeth’s Column, helping the restaurant during a challenging period.
The Longhorn franchise grew rapidly, expanding across the South and throughout the Eastern U.S. by 1990. In August 2007, Darden Restaurants, Inc. acquired Longhorn Steakhouse, which was then operated by RARE Hospitality International, Inc.
